Let’s I have 5 kg block of cocopeat. The inner fibrous and stringy interior is compressed into a block. It available in various sizes and shapes. Blocks are available in 1kg or 5 kg. Cocopeat is a fantastic growing medium for seeds and plants. Take large tub and fill it with water. Place your coco brick into it. Also pour water all over it. Keep the block immersed in water for at least 3-5 hours.
So that cocopeat absorbs maximum water and loosens it. When entire block absorbs water, it will swell up to 2-3 times of its original dry weight. Just drain out the water and now you just use light coco soil.
Cocopeat is light, easy to handle and can be reuse for years. It is a perfect soil conditioner. It can retain moisture up to 8 times of its volume and completely organic in nature. Scrap the cocopeat you need and remaining place it in a dry place.
So, in order to grow plants, you have to add good quality of compost with it. You we use cocopeat and organic compost in the ratio of 1:1. Cocopeat can be mix with any ingredient i.e. garden soil, any kind of manure. If you use this in grow bags the you use combination of potting mix i.e. 50% of garden soil, 30% of cocopeat and 20 % of organic manure such as vermicompost, cow dung manure etc. This combination of potting mix will result in good growth and high yields of plants. Fibers obtained by decortication process is in mixed form is known as decorticated fiber. Coco husk is the raw material obtained for the extraction of coir fiber by machines. Firstly, coconut is plucked from coconut tree. Husk is separated from the coconut by the process of DE husking. Husk is trashed against upright iron strike.
It breaks the husk into 3-4 segments. Coco husk is crushed by passing through the crusher. It consists of iron rods. They crush the fiber without damaging it. Then it goes to conveyer belt for disintegration. Conveyer belt is working at half HP motor. Husk moves from one conveyer into another for disintegration. Then extraction of fibers is happening. Then it goes for decortication for removal of pith and other impurities. At last we get best fibers.
